Smart Campus FAQ
WHEN DID THE SMART CAMPUS COMMENCE SCHOOLING?
The GIIS SMART Campus commenced classes on July 2, 2018. Students from Queenstown campus were joined by their fellow students from Balestier campus and senior students from the East Coast campus at the new premises.
WHO IS IN THE LEADERSHIP ROLES FOR THE SMART CAMPUS?
The Campus is led by a vibrant leadership team comprising of Ms Melissa Maria and Ms Rekha Varghese, and is supported by an outstanding team of Supervisors, Heads of Departments and Coordinators.
WHAT CURRICULA AND GRADES ARE BEING OFFERED AT THE SMART CAMPUS?
The SMART Campus offers IB, IGCSE, CBSE and Global Montessori Plus(GMP) under one roof and is open for admissions for Grades KG to Grade 12.
ARE THERE ANY PLANS TO INTRODUCE INTERNATIONAL CURRICULA FOR PRIMARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS?
The school intends to offer International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) from 2020 academic session. The school has already commenced the necessary registration process with the IB board.
ARE ALL THE CLASSROOMS EQUIPPED WITH SMART BOARDS?
Yes, There are two customised 65’’ TV screens in each classroom. The school has adopted very advanced systems and technologies to make learning fun and productive. Read more on our Digital Classrooms.
IS THERE A KINDERGARTEN IN THE CAMPUS?
Yes, the campus has Kindergarten with limited seats for Nursery, K1 and K2. Preference will be given to siblings.
WHAT ARE THE OUTDOOR SPORTS FACILITIES OFFERED AT THE SMART CAMPUS?
The school will offer a soccer field with artificial turf, a cricket field with natural turf, a tennis court, basketball court, cricket pitches and outdoor play area for our students. These facilities are under preparation and will be ready by end August.
GICC students will be able to use all sports facilities on Saturdays.
As part of our continuous efforts for community integration, the school shall offer up the nearby residents the access to the sports facilities, after 7:00 pm on weekdays and 9:00am to 6:00pm on Sundays. This access shall be subject to availability of school grounds, provided there are no school events being scheduled during those hours. The nearby residents will get this access at no charge.
We will continue to support local non profit and charitable associations to use the sports facilities for community integration initiatives.
HOW IS THE CANTEEN FACILITY?
There is a huge canteen facility in the school where the food will be cooked in school itself. The canteen will serve multiple options from Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, Indian, Continental, Asian and healthy food.
HOW IS THE SMART CAMPUS BETTER?
The GIIS Smart campus is a state of the art campus to inculcate 21st century learning skills in the students. The campus has dedicated spaces to encourage students to innovate, create and try out new things making them comfortable with the education style of the future. The size of the campus is 4 times the size Queenstown campus and 6 times bigger than Balestier campus.
WHAT IS THE LAYOUT OF THE SMART CAMPUS?
The SMART Campus is divided into two blocks: Peranakan (P) and Straits (S); names chosen to reflect the rich Singapore culture and its integration into our school.
The ‘P’ block is used by students from Nursery to Grade 6.
The ‘S’ block is used by students from Grade 7 to 12, for all three curricula - CBSE, IGCSE and IBDP. Four sections of Grade 7 will be present at 'P' block.

IS THERE ANY SHUTTLE BUS FACILITY FOR THE STUDENTS?
There will be two shuttle services for students between Punggol MRT and the SMART Campus during morning and afternoon hours. Students can avail this facility free of charge. The 40-seater bus can be accessed at the Punggol MRT and will depart at 8:15am and 8:40 am in the morning and will depart from the school at 3:45pm and 4:10pm in the afternoon.
WILL THERE BE A FEE INCREASE DUE TO THE SHIFT?
No, there will not be any increase in the fees.
WILL THE FEES BE SAME FOR ALL GIIS CAMPUSES?
Yes the fees for all GIIS campuses will remain same. Parents are free to select and choose the campus of their liking and convenience.
HOW IS THE SAFETY OF STUDENTS ENSURED IN THE CAMPUS AND HOW WILL IT BE ENSURED NO STUDENTS ARE LEFT BEHIND AFTER SCHOOL HOURS?
There is a network of CCTV cameras installed in the campus, including staircases.
WHEN CAN WE VISIT THE GIIS SMART CAMPUS?
For the benefit of all parents, we will be continuing our campus tours on weekends ie. on Saturdays, at 9:30 a.m and 11:30 a.m.

HOW DO I CONNECT TO THE SMART CAMPUS WI-FI?
The school wi-fi is called “CAMPUS CONNECT”.
To log on to the wi-fi, go to your Phone Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure wi-fi is turned on. Find the “CAMPUS CONNECT” wi-fi in the list and tap. You will be prompted to enter your MyGIIS username and password. Please type them in. Once your credentials are authenticated, you will be able to start using the internet on your device.
HOW TO REACH THE SMART CAMPUS?
The Campus is easily accessible via MRT/LRT, public buses and the school bus. The SMART Campus is just a 500 m walk from the Coral Edge LRT station and 2.5 km from Punggol MRT station. It takes approximately 7 minutes to drive from Punggol MRT to the Campus.
SMRT Buses - From Punggol Interchange, students can avail bus numbers 3, 62, 83 and 85 to come to the school campus.
